Your first week with SYNKii: from studio setup to the next lesson
A useful first week ends with one student knowing what to practise and you knowing where to look before the next lesson. Start with that complete loop.

THE TEACHING LIBRARY
Lesson Notes & AI
Practical ideas for the lesson in front of you — and the learning that follows.
FIND YOUR NEXT IDEA

11 pieces · practical reading, walkthroughs and ready-to-use materials
Invite your students: adult learners, children and guardians
The invitation establishes a teaching relationship. Choose the route for the learner before deciding which email address to use.
Studio Management3 min
Use SYNKii in an in-person lesson: before, during and after
SYNKii can support an in-person lesson without becoming the centre of attention. Use it to connect preparation, the musical work and the next practice session.
Online & In-person Teaching3 min
From AI draft to useful lesson notes: review, edit and publish
An AI lesson note is a draft built from lesson material. Your review turns it into teaching guidance the student can trust.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Ten focused practice challenge cards
Choose one challenge for a familiar passage. Each card includes a task and a way to reflect; stop if the instruction is unclear.
Student Practice2 min
Prepare a visual rhythm example in AHA! Lab
Use beat shapes and metre settings to make your own rhythm explanations visible.
Theory & Aural2 min
Bar-by-bar readiness: a short piece and a worked progress map
Use the original four-bar study to practise making a specific progress judgement.
Goals & Repertoire2 min
Five ways to make practice more effective
Effective practice starts with a clear question. Try these five changes with one passage rather than changing the learner's whole routine.
Student Practice1 min
Choose one classroom tool for the musical point you are teaching
Choose a classroom tool by the musical question it helps answer.
Technology & Tools2 min
Explain the value of your lessons beyond the minutes in the room
The value of a lesson includes the clarity a learner takes away. Describe that value through the learning experience rather than a long feature list.
Business Growth1 min
Invite an adult learner and a guardian: two short walkthroughs
Explore five slides of the real invitation screens: adult and child routes, proposed terms, optional scheduling and final review.
Studio Management5 slides
Connect a MIDI keyboard and show teacher and student playing
This walkthrough shows MIDI input from both participants. The coloured keyboard represents note data; it is not a measurement of microphone volume.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
Review an AI lesson note and preview it as a student
Use this script to demonstrate teacher control over an AI draft. Record only fictional lesson content.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Set a theory or aural assignment and find it in the student account
Show the assignment from both sides so teachers can see what the learner receives. This is a script and written walkthrough ready for recording.
Student Practice1 min
Move from scattered teaching tools to one connected studio
Moving tools works best when you move a teaching routine, not an entire archive. Pick the next lesson as your starting point.
Getting Started2 min
Starter, Pro or Studio: choose a plan around the way you teach
Choose a plan around the work you want connected: organising a studio, teaching in the classroom, or supporting the learning between lessons.
Getting Started3 min
Keep your teaching calendar and attendance records organised
A trustworthy calendar tells you what was agreed; attendance records tell you what actually happened. Keep those two jobs separate.
Studio Management3 min
Create lesson invoices and keep track of payment status
Create an invoice from checked lesson records, then keep its payment status aligned with what actually happened. SYNKii's invoice record is not proof that money has arrived.
Studio Management3 min
Teach with PDF scores and MusicXML: choose the right format for the task
A PDF preserves the appearance of a page. MusicXML describes musical notation that software can interpret. Choose the format for the teaching action you need.
Online & In-person Teaching3 min
Record a lesson and use a short excerpt for follow-up
A short, purposeful recording can help a learner remember a musical idea. Start by deciding what it should explain.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
Turn a lesson explanation into a clear practice assignment
A lesson explanation becomes an assignment when the learner knows where to start, what to do and how to judge an attempt.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Organise a teaching record using notes, pinned moments and recordings
Notes, pinned moments and recordings answer different questions. Use them together without making the learner search through everything.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Set up a student’s Practice Room around one clear weekly goal
A weekly practice plan is easier to use when its activities serve one recognisable goal. Begin with the sound you want the learner to produce.
Student Practice2 min
Read a practice report: activity, completion, time and the next conversation
A practice report is a record of activity, not a complete account of learning. Read it alongside the learner's explanation and a fresh musical attempt.
Student Practice2 min
Combine teacher-set work, theory and aural tasks into a manageable practice week
Repertoire, theory and aural work can reinforce the same musical idea. Build a week around a connection the learner can hear.
Student Practice2 min
Use SYNKii’s interval tools in your lesson
Demonstrate intervals, try a digital exercise together and assign practice using your own teaching approach.
Theory & Aural2 min
Choose theory and aural exercises at the right level of difficulty
An exercise should stretch a skill the learner understands, not combine several unfamiliar demands at once.
Theory & Aural2 min
Use the goals canvas: from wishlist to working on to done
The goals canvas makes the direction of learning visible. Use its columns to distinguish possibilities, current work and work you have finished.
Goals & Repertoire2 min
Break a piece into manageable sections and track bar readiness
A piece can be partly secure and partly unfamiliar. Bar-readiness squares make that difference visible without reducing the whole piece to one label.
Goals & Repertoire2 min
Build a learning plan around a student’s musical interests
A learning plan should connect the learner's musical interests with the skills that will help them pursue those interests.
Goals & Repertoire2 min
Connect a MIDI keyboard: the signal path from instrument to lesson
Follow the MIDI signal one step at a time: instrument, connection, browser, local display, then the other participant.
Technology & Tools2 min
Organise and share scores, worksheets and audio in your teaching library
A useful teaching library makes the right material easy to find and share. Organise around the lesson task rather than the file format alone.
Technology & Tools2 min
Create your first teaching exercise in Score Studio
Score Studio is planned for November 2026 and will be included from Pro. This preparation guide describes a first teaching exercise; confirm the final controls against the released editor.
Technology & Tools2 min
Join your teacher on SYNKii: invitations, accounts and first steps
Students join SYNKii through a teaching invitation. Start with the invitation for the correct learner rather than trying to create an unrelated account.
Students & Parents2 min
What students and parents can access for free through their teacher
Your teacher's subscription covers student and guardian platform access. That does not mean the music lessons themselves are free.
Students & Parents2 min
Find your lesson notes, practice tasks, schedule, attendance and invoices
Start with the question you want answered. The schedule, lesson note and practice task each serve a different purpose.
Students & Parents2 min
Explain your teaching approach so the right students can recognise it
A clear teaching introduction helps a prospective learner recognise whether your approach fits their aims. Describe the experience they can expect, using claims you can support.
Business Growth2 min
Build a student journey from the first conversation to a progress review
A student's journey becomes clearer when each stage answers a different question: is this a good fit, how do I start, what do I work on and what has changed?
Business Growth2 min
Prepare your teacher introduction for Find Your Teacher
Find Your Teacher is planned for November 2026. Prepare an accurate introduction now, then check the final listing requirements when the service opens.
Business Growth2 min
A student welcome pack: what happens before, during and after lessons
Read this welcome pack together at a first lesson. It is written for the student and the adult supporting them.
Getting Started2 min
A first-lesson conversation card set for interests, experience and goals
Use these six conversation cards before choosing a first piece. Allow the learner to pass on a question. No musical vocabulary is required.
Getting Started2 min
A visual “where do I find it?” guide for students and parents
Use this map when a student or parent asks where something lives. Availability depends on the teacher's plan, account role and permissions.
Getting Started2 min
A family handout explaining lesson schedules, attendance and invoices
Share this explanation with a family when you introduce the studio workspace. It explains the records without imposing a cancellation or payment policy.
Studio Management2 min
A welcome-to-the-studio conversation activity for agreeing learning expectations
Use this ten-minute conversation activity to agree how learning will work. It contains prompts and examples, not a form to fill in.
Studio Management2 min
Three worked studio routines for a small, growing and mixed-format teaching week
These are worked examples of studio routines. Adapt the timing to your teaching load; they are not targets or claims about productivity.
Studio Management2 min
Call-and-response rhythm cards for lessons with a connection delay
Use these rhythm cards in a turn-taking lesson. Each pattern lasts four crotchet beats. A dash means continue holding; “and” divides a beat into two equal quavers.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
An original five-note study with prompts for tone, articulation and phrasing
This original four-bar melody uses C4–G4 in 4/4. All notes are crotchets. It is designed for a short lesson on tone, direction and joining bars.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
A camera-position reference sheet for piano, strings and voice
Use this reference sheet to choose a view for one teaching question. It is a starting point to test together, not a prescribed posture.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
Give SYNKii concrete details to capture in lesson notes
Name the passage, action and practice goal aloud so the lesson transcript can support useful follow-up notes.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Feedback phrase cards for rhythm, tone, technique and expression
Choose one card for a lesson or practice task. Replace the passage reference with the learner's actual music.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Four ways to explain musical ideas with SYNKii AHA! Lab
Use visual and listening demonstrations that support your own explanations of rhythm, singing and counterpoint.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Build a five-minute digital practice habit
Prepare a short digital exercise students can complete on their phone between lessons.
Student Practice2 min
Listen–play–reflect prompts for independent practice
Use this prompt sequence with any short demonstration or passage. The learner can answer aloud.
Student Practice2 min
Hear, name and play: an original listening exercise pack
Listen to four original concert-pitch examples. Each contains two notes, played separately at the same intended loudness. Replay as needed before opening the answers.
Theory & Aural2 min
Musical goal cards for tone, rhythm, fluency and expression
Choose a goal card, agree what it sounds like and pair it with a short task.
Goals & Repertoire2 min
Three repertoire pathways with original short excerpts
These original excerpts offer three routes into a short learning plan. They are concert-pitch melodies in 4/4, with all notes as crotchets.
Goals & Repertoire2 min
A visual MIDI connection map: keyboard, cable, browser and classroom
Use this signal map to find where a MIDI connection stops.
Technology & Tools1 min
A worked teaching library containing original score, audio and worksheet examples
This original pack demonstrates a small, coherent teaching library. Use the files together for a lesson on a steady pulse.
Technology & Tools2 min
An editable original mini-study pack for Score Studio
This editable pack is ready as original MusicXML material. Score Studio itself is planned for November 2026 and will be included from Pro.
Technology & Tools2 min
A parent’s listening question card set
Choose one question before listening to your child's practice. You do not need to know the correct technical answer.
Students & Parents2 min
A beginner’s glossary of the musical words used in lesson notes
Use this glossary alongside a real musical example. Ask your teacher when a word has a more specific meaning in your piece.
Students & Parents2 min
A student reflection activity: hear it, describe it, choose the next step
Use this reflection activity after one short attempt. It works aloud, so the learner does not need to write a report.
Students & Parents2 min
A first-conversation question deck for understanding a prospective student
Use this question deck for a first conversation with a prospective learner. Choose the questions that fit; it should feel like a conversation, not an interview.
Business Growth2 min
Three annotated examples of clear teacher introductions
These are fictional writing examples, not real teacher profiles or testimonials. Use their structure while describing only your own experience.
Business Growth2 min
A musical progress showcase using original before-and-after examples
Use these original synthetic examples to demonstrate one musical change. They are deliberately constructed comparisons, not recordings of a real student's progress.
Business Growth2 min
Start with one student before moving your whole studio
Use one student to find the small points of friction before they become twenty support conversations.
Getting Started2 min
Introduce a new learning platform without overwhelming families
Families need a reason to change and a small first action. They do not need a tour of every feature in the first message.
Getting Started2 min
Three routines to establish before adding more teaching tools
Three small routines make a connected workspace useful: prepare one outcome, capture one observation and leave one next step.
Getting Started1 min
A ten-minute studio admin routine between teaching days
Set a ten-minute boundary for routine admin so unfinished details do not follow you into every lesson. This is a suggested routine, not a promise that every studio takes ten minutes.
Studio Management2 min
Keep rescheduling conversations clear and easy to follow
Rescheduling becomes confusing when several possible times look like confirmed lessons. Make the difference explicit.
Studio Management2 min
What belongs in a student record—and what belongs in a lesson note
Put information where it will still make sense when you return to it. A student's ongoing context and an observation from one lesson serve different purposes.
Studio Management2 min
Keep online music lessons active with a demonstrate–respond–reflect rhythm
Remote music teaching is easier to follow when each person knows whose turn it is. Use a demonstrate–respond–reflect rhythm.
Online & In-person Teaching1 min
Choose camera angles that reveal technique
Choose the camera view for the detail you need to observe. A full-room view and a technique view answer different questions.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
Make the most of one bar: listen, demonstrate and try again
When a passage keeps failing, shrink the task until the learner can hear what changes. One bar is often enough.
Online & In-person Teaching1 min
Write feedback a student can act on without you in the room
Feedback is useful when the learner can act on it without reconstructing your lesson. Replace a judgement with a place, action and listening cue.
Lesson Notes & AI2 min
Give one clear next step instead of a page of corrections
A page of corrections can make it difficult to decide what to do first. Give the learner one clear priority and keep the rest as context for future teaching.
Lesson Notes & AI1 min
Keep students motivated between lessons with small, meaningful wins
A meaningful win is a change the learner can recognise, not simply a higher number.
Student Practice1 min
What to do when a student has barely practised
Begin with curiosity when a student has barely practised. The next useful step depends on what prevented them from starting.
Student Practice1 min
Explore rhythm with AHA! Lab Beats & metre
Use beat shapes and metre settings to make your own rhythm explanations visible.
Theory & Aural2 min
Turn “play it better” into a goal a student can recognise
“Play it better” describes a wish. A useful goal describes a change the learner can recognise.
Goals & Repertoire1 min
Decide when a piece is ready to share, revisit or move on from
A piece does not need to be permanently perfect before it has served a learning purpose. Decide what “ready” means for this occasion.
Goals & Repertoire1 min
Make progress visible without turning every lesson into a test
Progress can be visible without making every attempt a test. Compare a musical question over time.
Goals & Repertoire1 min
Diagnose a missing MIDI signal one step at a time
When MIDI disappears, find the first point where the signal stops. Avoid changing several settings at once.
Technology & Tools1 min
Name and organise teaching files so you can find them next term
A file name should help you recognise the material without opening three candidates.
Technology & Tools2 min
Help your child practise without becoming the second teacher
You can support a child's practice without taking over the teacher's role. Help them start, listen with interest and notice what they are trying.
Students & Parents1 min
Give an adult beginner a practice plan that fits real life
An adult beginner's practice plan needs to fit the week they have, not an ideal week with unlimited time.
Students & Parents1 min
Talk about progress with families using clear musical examples
A family understands progress more easily when you show a musical change and explain why it matters.
Students & Parents1 min
Turn a progress review into a conversation about the next musical goal
A progress review should lead somewhere. Begin with the learner's musical experience, then choose the next goal together.
Business Growth1 min
Write a teacher introduction that sounds like you
Find Your Teacher is coming in November 2026. Use this writing exercise to prepare an introduction that sounds like the teacher a learner will meet.
Business Growth1 min
Your teacher dashboard: where to start each teaching day
Use this written walkthrough to rehearse a short dashboard tour. The recording script below is ready for a screen capture; a finished video is not yet available.
Getting Started2 min
Follow one student from lesson preparation to practice
Follow one example from preparation to the next review. This is a written walkthrough and recording script, not a recorded demonstration.
Getting Started2 min
Find your students, calendar, messages, library and invoices
This walkthrough gives each main workspace area a job. Use the script to record a concise orientation without inventing a task for every menu item.
Getting Started2 min
Schedule a lesson and record attendance
Follow the actual scheduling controls, then use the written guide to review attendance after teaching.

Create an invoice and review its payment status
See the three invoice coverage options in the actual platform, with written guidance for reviewing drafts and payment records.
Studio Management3 slides
Open a score, point to a passage and annotate a PDF
Show how a shared page becomes a focused teaching reference. This written walkthrough includes a recording script; no finished video is attached.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
Use the Lesson Feed to capture an observation during teaching
The Lesson Feed can preserve a useful observation while the musical detail is fresh. Keep the entry specific enough to guide later review.
Online & In-person Teaching2 min
Find a pinned moment and turn it into useful feedback
A pinned moment is most useful when it leads to an understandable next step. This script turns one observation into feedback.
Lesson Notes & AI1 min
Write a manual assignment alongside a lesson note
Demonstrate a manual assignment that complements a lesson note. Use a small musical task and check the recipient before saving.
Lesson Notes & AI1 min
A student practice session: choose work, practise and review
Demonstrate one complete practice sitting, including the report and save step.
Student Practice1 min
Review practice activity before the next lesson
Use practice activity to prepare a question for the next lesson. This script avoids treating time as a grade.
Student Practice1 min
Set up an interval identification exercise
Explore five slides of the actual interval builder: exercise selection, interval choices, challenge settings and Live Preview feedback.
Theory & Aural5 slides
Complete an aural exercise from the student’s view
Show how a learner approaches an aural question, including listening again when needed.
Theory & Aural2 min
Review weekly practice sessions and adjust assignments
Open a student practice session, review accuracy and use it to choose the next level of challenge.
Theory & Aural2 min
Add a goal and organise it on the canvas
Demonstrate a goal that connects a learner's interest with current work. This script uses the canvas without treating every wishlist item as an assignment.
Goals & Repertoire1 min
Read the bar-readiness squares using a short score
Show a few readiness squares beside the music they describe. Keep the assessment tied to a specific outcome.
Goals & Repertoire1 min
Review repertoire progress with a student
Use a repertoire review to connect the learner's experience with a new musical decision.
Goals & Repertoire1 min
Read the classroom keyboard colours and dynamics display
This script explains the keyboard display from the viewer's perspective. It distinguishes MIDI velocity from measured audio volume.
Technology & Tools1 min
Upload a resource and share it with the right student
See the actual Library upload and search controls, then follow the written checks for sharing with the intended learner.
Technology & Tools2 slides
Create, play back and export a short score in Score Studio
Explore four screenshots from the local pre-release Score Studio. Coming November 2026, included from Pro; playback and export are described in the written guide.
Technology & Tools4 slides
Accept a teacher invitation as a student or guardian
This script explains invitation acceptance from the recipient's perspective. Use demo accounts and keep invitation tokens out of the recording.
Students & Parents1 min
Find the week’s work in the student account
Show a learner how to answer one question: what should I work on this week?
Students & Parents1 min
A guardian’s view of lessons, notes and upcoming dates
Demonstrate the guardian view as a role with its own permissions, not a copy of every teacher control.
Students & Parents1 min
Walk through the learning experience you can show a prospective family
Use a demonstration to show a prospective family the learning experience. This script uses original material and a demo learner.
Business Growth1 min
Demonstrate a student’s progress using notes, goals and practice activity
Tell a progress story with a goal, evidence and a next step. This is a recording script, not a real student case study.
