FAQ

Questions about SYNKii

Clear answers about the platform, teacher subscriptions, student accounts, marketplace discovery, verification, privacy, and billing.

What is SYNKii?

SYNKii is a SaaS software platform for music teachers, students, and parents. It helps teachers manage their studio, teach with modern tools, capture lesson notes, share resources, and support student practice.

Does SYNKii provide music lessons?

No. SYNKii provides teaching software and may introduce students to independent teachers. The teacher delivers lessons, and the teacher and student or guardian agree the lesson arrangements directly.

Is SYNKii a music school or agency?

No. SYNKii is not a music school, teaching agency, employer, or education provider. Teachers on SYNKii operate independently.

Does SYNKii take commission from lessons?

No. SYNKii does not take lesson commissions. Teachers subscribe to SYNKii as software and arrange lesson payments directly with students or parents.

Can I use SYNKii without joining the marketplace?

Yes. Teachers can use SYNKii privately as SaaS software to manage their studio, invite students, teach lessons, and use learning tools without appearing publicly in the marketplace.

What does a teacher subscription include?

Starter (£15/month) covers studio management. Pro (£25/month) adds the SYNKii classroom. Studio (£35/month) adds lesson recordings, AI lesson notes, digital assignments for theory, aural and teacher-set work, a goals canvas and student practice tools. See plans and pricing or the cost comparison.

Am I responsible for my own teaching business?

Yes. Teachers are responsible for their teaching quality, pricing, lesson policies, cancellation rules, safeguarding duties, tax, and professional obligations.

How do students join SYNKii?

A teacher sends an invitation. Adult students activate their own account; for a child, a parent, guardian or authorised adult completes the required activation and permissions. The teacher listing page currently shows a proposed introduction experience.

Can one student learn with multiple teachers?

Yes. A student can learn with multiple teachers. Each teacher relationship has its own workspace and data boundaries.

Can I change teacher?

Yes. A student can change teacher. Past learning history can remain available to the student while archived teacher relationships become read-only where appropriate.

How do parent accounts work?

A parent can manage one child or multiple children from one account. Each child has separate learning data, practice tasks, teacher relationships, and resources.

Can a parent also be a learner?

Yes. A parent can manage children and also learn as an adult student from the same account using separate profile modes.

What can a child account access?

Child accounts are designed for practice, lessons, goals, rewards, resources, and teacher encouragement. Child accounts do not access billing, subscription controls, unrestricted marketplace browsing, or legal settings.

What is the SYNKii marketplace?

The proposed listing page helps students and parents discover independent teachers who use SYNKii. SYNKii provides introductions and software; it does not manage a marketplace of lessons. Teachers agree lesson details directly with students or parents and keep their lesson income, with 0% SYNKii lesson commission. Read the marketplace terms.

Who is responsible for lesson quality?

The teacher is responsible for lesson quality, teaching style, content, policies, safeguarding obligations, and learning outcomes. SYNKii does not guarantee lesson quality or exam results.

Are lesson payments handled by SYNKii?

SYNKii does not take lesson commissions. Lesson arrangements and payments are agreed directly between the teacher and student or parent unless SYNKii later explicitly offers a separate payment feature.

What happens if there is a dispute with a teacher?

Commercial disputes about lesson quality, attendance, lesson fees, cancellations or teacher refunds are normally handled under the direct agreement with the teacher. Safety, harassment, false-profile, review, messaging, privacy and other platform-rule concerns can be reported to SYNKii for platform action.

What do Email verified and Phone verified mean?

Under the proposed badge standards: They mean SYNKii confirmed control of the stated email address or phone number. They do not verify a government identity document, qualification or DBS evidence.

What does Government ID verified mean?

Under the proposed badge standards: It means an approved provider or trained reviewer checked a valid photo identity document and matched it to the account holder. A separate “Live identity match completed” signal is shown only where a selfie or liveness comparison was also performed.

What does Qualification evidence reviewed mean?

Under the proposed badge standards: It means SYNKii reviewed submitted evidence for consistency and identity match. It does not mean the issuing institution independently confirmed the credential unless the profile separately says “Qualification issuer confirmed”.

What does DBS evidence reviewed mean?

Under the proposed badge standards: It means SYNKii reviewed the stated DBS evidence and recorded its type, workforce, issue date and review date. DBS certificates have no official expiry date and are point-in-time records. A separate badge is used where an authorised DBS Update Service status check was completed.

Are verification badges guarantees?

No. Each badge describes a specific check at a point in time. It does not guarantee lesson quality, safety, professional conduct, availability, refunds, results or future behaviour.

What can teachers see?

Teachers can see data related to their own teacher-student relationship, such as lesson notes they create, assignments, practice reports shared with them, messages in that relationship, and their own invoices.

Can one teacher see another teacher's notes?

No. If a student has multiple teachers, each teacher only sees the data related to their own teaching relationship.

What can parents see?

Parents can see the child profiles they manage, child lessons, child practice reports, resources, teacher messages according to settings, child login handoff, and household invoices.

What happens when a teacher-student relationship ends?

The relationship can be archived. Past learning history remains available according to account settings, while active messaging and new assignments usually stop.

Does SYNKii store official documents?

The proposed verification policy minimises document storage and limits public profiles to the check type, status and relevant dates. Provider arrangements and deletion periods must be confirmed before verification launches. See the draft verification standards and privacy notice.

Is the teacher subscription a SaaS subscription?

Yes. Teachers subscribe to SYNKii as software. The subscription is separate from any lesson fees teachers charge their students.

Does SYNKii refund teacher subscription payments?

Except where required by law or stated at checkout, subscription fees are non-refundable after the applicable cancellation period. A free trial does not remove statutory consumer rights, and billing errors should be reported promptly.

Does AI send notes automatically?

No. AI-assisted notes and suggestions are drafts. The teacher reviews and edits them before sharing.

Do students buy a Synkii subscription?

No. The teacher holds the software subscription and invites learners into the relevant teaching relationship.

Can a child sign up alone?

No. A teacher starts the invitation and a parent, guardian or authorised adult completes the required activation and permissions.

Are lesson recordings required?

No. Recording is a controlled feature and must follow the relevant product permissions, notices, consent and professional responsibilities.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled through account billing settings, subject to the terms shown at checkout.

What happens when the free trial ends?

You choose the monthly plan that fits your studio. The trial does not require a credit card, so it does not silently begin a paid subscription.
