Marketplace Terms

SYNKii Marketplace Terms

These Marketplace Terms govern public teacher profiles, discovery, enquiries, verification signals, rankings, reviews, moderation and marketplace complaints. They sit alongside the main Terms and Privacy Notice.

0% lesson commission. Teachers and students agree lesson fees, schedules, cancellations and refunds directly. The SYNKii software subscription is separate from lesson charges. Read how teacher introductions work.
Independent teachers. SYNKii is a software and discovery service. Teachers provide lessons independently and set their own lesson fees, availability and lesson policies. Unless SYNKii expressly launches a separate payment service, lesson contracts and payments are made directly between the teacher and student or parent.

1. Listing eligibility and teacher obligations

Who may list

A teacher must be at least 18, hold an eligible SYNKii account, provide accurate contact and identity information, accept these Marketplace Terms and complete the minimum profile and safety checks shown during onboarding.

Profile accuracy

Teachers must keep instruments, location, online availability, rates, experience, credentials, age groups, lesson format, capacity and policies accurate. Claims must be supportable and must not imply employment, endorsement or guaranteed outcomes.

Right to refuse or remove

SYNKii may refuse, pause or remove a listing that is incomplete, misleading, unlawful, unsafe, inactive, inconsistent with verification evidence or in breach of platform rules. Serious safety action may be taken without advance notice.

2. Search, ranking and promoted profiles

Organic ranking factors

Default results may consider relevance to the user’s search, instrument, lesson format, location or distance, availability, learner age group, profile completeness, verification status, responsiveness, review quality and volume, recent marketplace activity and safety or integrity signals.

No single factor guarantees placement. SYNKii may adjust weighting to improve relevance, safety, diversity of results and marketplace quality.

Paid status and promotion

A paid SYNKii subscription does not itself certify a teacher’s quality or safety. Organic ranking must not secretly favour a higher subscription tier. If SYNKii introduces paid promotion, sponsored profiles must be clearly labelled and the commercial influence on placement must be explained.

User controls. Searchers can change available filters and sort options. A teacher may ask for an explanation of material ranking restrictions that specifically affect their profile, subject to fraud, security and system-integrity limits.

3. Enquiries, relationships and child learners

Stage
What happens
Data and safety boundary
Who decides
Profile view
The user reviews public information, exact badge wording, policies and availability.
Private identity and verification documents are not shared.
The user chooses whether to enquire.
Enquiry
An adult student or parent sends the minimum information needed to ask about lessons.
A child cannot independently send unrestricted public enquiries or disclose private contact details.
The teacher may reply, decline or ask a relevant question.
Relationship activation
Lesson terms, price, venue, schedule, cancellation policy and recording preferences are agreed.
A teacher invitation for a child remains pending until the guardian completes approval and privacy settings.
Both sides choose whether to proceed.
Ongoing relationship
SYNKii creates a relationship workspace for messages, notes, resources and practice information.
Each teacher sees only their own relationship data. Guardian/parent visibility applies to child communications by default.
Either side may end or archive the relationship.

4. Prohibited marketplace conduct

Teachers must not

  • Make false identity, qualification, DBS, experience, rate or availability claims.
  • Buy, fabricate, exchange or pressure users for reviews.
  • Contact children secretly or ask them to move to private or disappearing-message channels.
  • Discriminate unlawfully, harass users or retaliate against a reporter or reviewer.
  • Use marketplace data for unrelated marketing, scraping, resale or recruitment.
  • Manipulate ranking, create duplicate profiles or impersonate another person.

Students and parents/guardians must not

  • Submit fake enquiries, abusive messages, discriminatory requests or fraudulent reviews.
  • Share another person’s private information or recordings without permission.
  • Misrepresent age, guardian authority or lesson experience.
  • Use profiles for scraping, unsolicited marketing or competitive surveillance.
  • Threaten a teacher with a review to obtain money or an improper benefit.
  • Bypass account restrictions or child-safety controls.

5. Review and rating policy

Who may review

Only users with a genuine lesson or marketplace experience that SYNKii can reasonably connect to the reviewer may submit a review. The reviewer must disclose any material incentive or close personal or business relationship.

What is prohibited

Fake, commissioned, duplicated, misleading, concealed-incentivised, abusive, discriminatory, irrelevant, defamatory or privacy-invasive reviews are prohibited. Teachers must not review themselves or arrange reciprocal review schemes.

Moderation and response

SYNKii may use automated and human checks, request evidence, label incentives, restrict suspicious activity, allow a concise teacher response and remove content that breaches the Review Policy. A negative opinion is not removed merely because the teacher disagrees.

Published review policy. Every review form and review display links to this section and explains how reviews are verified, moderated, appealed and ordered.

6. Lesson disputes, refunds and platform responsibility

Teacher–student disputes

Lesson quality, attendance, lesson fees, cancellations and teacher refunds are normally governed by the direct agreement between teacher and student or parent. Users should first use that agreement’s complaint process.

SYNKii may consider whether reported conduct breaches platform or marketplace rules and may preserve platform evidence, but it does not become the lesson provider by doing so.

Platform complaints

SYNKii handles complaints about profiles, badges, rankings, reviews, messages, safety, illegal content, privacy and the operation of SYNKii software. Consumer statutory rights against SYNKii for its own services are not excluded.

7. Monitoring, sanctions and appeals

1

Signal

A report, verification conflict, suspicious review, automated flag or safety concern is received.

2

Interim measure

SYNKii may pause a badge, hide a review, restrict contact or remove a profile while assessing risk.

3

Review

Relevant evidence, context, history and user representations are considered.

4

Decision

Possible outcomes include no action, warning, correction, review removal, ranking restriction, listing suspension or account termination.

5

Appeal

Where appropriate, the affected user may request review of the decision within 30 days.

8. Leaving the marketplace

Teacher choice: a teacher may pause enquiries or remove their public listing without closing their private SYNKii studio account.

Existing relationships: removing a listing does not automatically cancel existing lesson relationships or erase records. Those relationships are managed separately.

Historic content: reviews and safety records may remain where lawful and necessary, with the profile marked unavailable or removed. Verification badges stop displaying when the listing is inactive.
