How to: Introduce the Practice Room to your students

ONE STEP AT A TIME

Follow the pictures

Keep SYNKii open in another tab. Follow the steps for your task; optional actions are labelled so you know what can wait.

Follow the numbered steps and highlighted controls. Screenshots show the actual SYNKii interface; example dates and settings may differ from yours.

  1. Find Students in the menu

Start on your teacher dashboard. Look down the navigation menu for the Workspace heading, then click Students. If the menu is folded away, open it first to see the names.

    Check: The Students page opens.

  2. Open the right learner

Click the learner’s name. Check their name at the top of the page before continuing.

Check: You are looking at that learner’s record.

  3. Prepare the student’s work

Open Assignments and check that one familiar task is assigned. If it is already ready, continue to the student’s account. Share any material needed for the task.

Check: The student has a familiar task to find in their own account.

  4. Preview the task together

Use Student preview to show how the task will appear. Then ask the student to open their own account and choose Practice Room under Learning. You do not need their password.

Check: The student recognises their task and can find Practice Room in their own account.

  5. Begin a short practice session

Help the learner recognise the assignment title. Tick the work for the session and click Start practice. Let them open and try the activity themselves.

Platform screenshot: Actual Practice Room setup with fictional work. Tick the task, then select Start practice at the top right.

Check: The session is running and the learner can begin the activity.

  6. Finish and find the report

Show the student the session’s finish control. After finishing, open the report and point out what they attempted. Explain that you can review their practice before the next lesson.

Platform screenshot: Actual practice workspace with fictional completed work. Finish session is under Ready to finish; End is also available in the top controls.

Check: The learner knows how to begin and finish a session.

Can’t find the same screen? Check that you are in the right account and have selected the right learner or lesson. On a small screen, open the navigation menu to see the page names. Read any access or availability message before continuing.

If the assignment is missing

Check that the student is in their own account, the task has been assigned, and its materials are shared. For a child, involve the guardian in sign-in setup without asking for the child’s password.

Keep the first week small

Start with one familiar task and a realistic routine. A report shows recorded activity, not musical mastery. Some practice may happen away from SYNKii; ask the learner about it at the next lesson.
