  4. 04

    What to remember?

Try one tool, then check whether the learner can explain the point.

Choose a classroom tool by the musical question it helps answer.

Teaching questionTool to consider
Are we looking at the same place?Score pointer
Which key or note pattern is being played?MIDI keyboard display
What movement happens at this moment?A suitable camera view
What did the demonstration sound like?An appropriately recorded example
What should the learner remember?A short Lesson Feed observation
Where does the rhythm break?A small score passage and audible counting

Try one tool first

If the learner is confused about a note pattern, show the keyboard display and play slowly. Adding a camera, annotations and a transcript at the same time may make the task harder to follow.

Check whether it helped

Ask the learner to demonstrate or explain the point. If the tool did not clarify it, change the explanation rather than adding more visual information.

The best choice is often the smallest tool that makes the musical detail visible or audible.
