Constructed synthetic comparisons, not a real student’s results. Listen to the audio below.

Use these original synthetic examples to demonstrate one musical change. They are deliberately constructed comparisons, not recordings of a real student’s progress.

Before — a hesitant join

Listen for the extra pause before the second bar.

After — a continuous pulse

The same notes continue at a regular pulse. Both clips begin with four count-in clicks.

Discuss the change

  1. What stayed the same? The notes and intended tempo.
  2. What changed? The extra pause at the bar line was removed.
  3. What practice method might help? Counting through the join and preparing the next note.
  4. What could come next? Shape the phrase while keeping the continuity.

Build a showcase responsibly

For a real learner, agree appropriate use of their work and describe the context accurately. A short comparison should illustrate a specific change, not imply that every part of their playing is now secure.

Finish with the learner’s own explanation: “The thing that helped me was…” Their account gives the example meaning beyond a before-and-after label.
