Is this a useful musical fit?
- 02
First lesson
What can I start with?
- 03
Early weeks
What should I work on?
- 04
Progress review
What changed, and where next?
A student’s journey becomes clearer when each stage answers a different question: is this a good fit, how do I start, what do I work on and what has changed?
First conversation: understand the aim
Ask about musical interests, previous experience and practical constraints. Offer a small example of your teaching approach rather than promising a result before hearing the learner.
First lesson: establish a useful starting point
Listen, choose one achievable musical task and explain what practice will look like. Check the learner can find the shared material and understands the next step.
Early weeks: make the routine familiar
Use a consistent pattern of goal, task and review. Adjust the workload to what the learner can begin independently. Invite questions when an instruction is unclear.
Progress review: compare evidence
Return to an earlier musical question. Play or discuss a specific example, ask the learner what changed and identify the next direction.
Ongoing relationship: keep listening
Interests and circumstances can change. Review whether the plan still serves the learner rather than assuming the original goal should last indefinitely.
SYNKii can hold the connected record, but the teaching relationship supplies its meaning.
