Show how the beat is distributed

Use the rhythm shapes or counting grid to make the placement of sounds, subdivisions and rests visible. Speak or sing the example with the rhythm syllables you normally use, and compare the visual with the notation.

Explore the change together

Change a selected part of the pattern and play it again. Use the display to support your explanation, then invite the student to try the example and return to the passage in their music.

Prepare before, use during

Explore the module while preparing your lesson. During an online or in-person lesson, open the classroom and use the demonstration alongside your teaching material. AHA! Lab is a prototype; the final interface may change.
