Illustrated explanation

A short exercise, a repeatable habit

  1. 01

    Build

Choose one familiar task for around five minutes.

  2. 02

    Try

Check the task together on the student’s phone.

  3. 03

    Repeat

Assign during the lesson and agree a convenient practice time.

Keep the task manageable and adjust its difficulty using the student’s experience and results.

Make it easy to start: give the student one familiar digital exercise that fits into around five minutes on their phone.

Build one focused exercise

In Theory & Aural, choose a question type linked to the current lesson. Select a small set of relevant options and a manageable number of questions. Aim for a short session, rather than a speed test.

Try it on the phone together

Open the student task during the lesson and check that they can read the question and use the answer controls on their phone. For an aural task, check that playback is audible. Adjust the number or difficulty of questions after trying it; five minutes is an approximate target, not a guaranteed duration.

Assign before the lesson ends

Let the student complete an example, then assign the exercise for repeat practice before the next lesson. Agree a convenient moment in their day to start it, such as after arriving home. Keep the task familiar so finding and understanding it does not become an obstacle.

Review the habit and the results

Look at completed practice sessions and accuracy with the student. If the task takes too long or feels discouraging, simplify it. If it is comfortably manageable, adjust the challenge while keeping the session short.

Review practice session accuracy.
