Illustrated explanation

Read the labels, not colour alone

BAR 1✓Secure
BAR 2✓Secure
BAR 3↗Nearly ready
BAR 4→Needs practice
  1. 01

    Secure

Bars 1–2 keep the agreed pulse.

  2. 02

    Nearly ready

Bar 3 hesitates at the entry.

  3. 03

    Needs practice

Bar 4 still needs note preparation.

Illustrative teacher assessment; exercise activity does not automatically change it.

Show a few readiness squares beside the music they describe. Keep the assessment tied to a specific outcome.

Written walkthrough

Open a four-bar demo goal. Review the bar-level readiness display and its labels. Listen to one bar, update the teacher assessment where appropriate, then choose a task for the remaining difficulty.

Recording script

Score and squares. “Each square helps us see a small part of the piece.”

Labels. “Here, two bars are Secure, one is Nearly ready and one Needs practice. These are teacher assessments of the agreed goal.”

Bar 3. “The notes are familiar, but the entry interrupts the pulse. We will practise the join from bar 2.”

Return to the phrase. “After the small task, we listen in context again.”

Capture notes

Show labels as well as colour. Do not invent percentage grades or imply that exercise activity automatically changes the teacher’s assessment.
