| Bar | Example evidence | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Four notes keep an even pulse | Retain it in the complete phrase |
| 2 | The turn continues without a pause | Connect it to bar 3 |
| 3 | Entry is hesitant, then steady | Practise the last beat of 2 into the first of 3 |
| 4 | Learner searches for the final notes | Name and play the pattern slowly |
Teacher activity
Play or ask for a deliberately hesitant version of bar 3. Discuss whether the problem lies within the bar or at its entry. Then practise only the join and listen again.
The map is illustrative. It is not an assessment of a real learner, and the labels depend on the musical goal. A bar may be secure for note reading while still needing phrasing work.
